REMEMBER THE WAY

An offering of words, poems, prayers, and renderings to remind, rekindle, uplift and inspire.

An invitation to recall the deeper meaning of relationship, a gentle reminder that all life is Sacred.

REMEMBER THE WAY

A call to us all; that we wake from our slumber and remember what it means to be truly human.

About Cath

I am a woman of the Way, a lover of the natural world. I’m a creative at heart, a writer of poetry, prose and prayer. I have travelled extensively, drawn to places of remoteness where the whispers of nature are not drowned by the cacophony of urban soundscape, but speak gently to the ear and heart. Here I am at home, attuned to a presence that enlivens my spirit and brings stillness to mind.

Some time ago, a calling took me to the desert of Central Australia, where I spent 11 years working and living in remote Aboriginal communities. I have always had a deep love for the people of the land, whom since ancient times have lived in harmony with nature; caretakers of country, caring for each other. A Way that has seeped into my own bones and is now ever-present. This time for me was a great teaching in the true qualities of the human spirit.

Home is now in southern Tasmania, a land of great beauty, pure air and pristine waters. A terrain that still holds a place for the wild. We live in the country where the spirit of community is alive and well. We eat from our garden, have chooks and horses and are forever grateful for such a life.

I have practiced in the Healing Arts, Performance Arts and Community Arts here in Australia and also San Francisco. For many years I worked with youth at risk, setting up and running programs in remote communities. My work has also taken me to charities and organizations that support the homeless as well as those with intellectual and physical challenges. In more recent times I have come to providing spiritual support to those in the community who are dying. I have also volunteered at a hospice and facilitate community conversations about matters that are so rarely spoken of, such as death and grief.

Life and experience has shaped me. It has opened my eyes and heart to our fragile human condition as well as our vast potential, thus revealing to me what is of the utmost importance. The true qualities and values that hold us in responsibility to our relationship with each other, to our earth and to all that is life, must be in the forefront of our care and decision making. It is up to us.

And so it is from these richly diverse experiences, my love for our beautiful earth and the human spirit, that I’m inspired to create and then share these renderings and creations with you.

May you Remember the Way.

About Remember the Way

Remember the Way is an evolving collection of visual imagery, spoken word and philosophical renderings that pertain to a way of living deeply … where the true qualities of the human spirit are rekindled, where respect and reverence for our earth is remembered.

The Way refers to a manner of living that requires us to simplify our lives and return to a natural way of being, so as to move towards a more balanced and harmonious continuance. It is a Way that is rooted in the understanding of reciprocity and upheld through the Spirit of Love. It asks of us to open our eyes to beauty all around, to listen to the call of ones heart and rediscover a life rich in meaning.

This Way of living and being calls attention to our continual relationship with all life. As are threads so intricately interwoven, we too are interdependent. We need each other, we rely on nature, we are of our ancestors, we all come from the Spirit of Life. By truly understanding the significance of our interconnectedness, we become more aware of our responsibility toward a future that is ours to create. We need to preserve a place for those still yet to come.

When we consciously and collectively embrace this Way, we enhance our ability to become a more caring people, whilst creating a more connected and sustainable world.

May we rekindle the knowing flame… May it bring us the understanding that we are all threads in this great weaving called Life.
